A HARD-working fundraiser is delighted to have been chosen as runner-up volunteer of the year for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
June Spouncer, of Wyberton, has been fundraising for the charity for the past 18 years and became involved when she got to know the profoundly deaf son of a work colleague.
She said: “I’ve always been a dog lover, so Hearing Dogs seemed the ideal charity to get involved with.”
June was put forward for the award by her area fundraiser Gill Yeates and was thrilled to be chosen as a joint runner-up.
She said: “I do a lot of fundraising events, including talks, and the fact that I don’t actually have a hearing dog myself does make it harder but I love doing it.”
