South Holland District Council to decide on Spalding developer's bid to reduce affordable housing element on Holbeach site

A developer has applied to reduce the affordable housing and financial contributions imposed by a planning permission.

Ashwood Homes received planning permission last year to build 83 homes in Fen Road, Holbeach with requirements to build 21 affordable units along with paying around £55,440 to the NHS and £404,337 to the education authority.

The firm has now applied to South Holland District Council to reduce this to 7 affordable homes with £521,783 to be apportioned to the Lincolnshire County Council’s education and or the NHS.

The report also includes two alternative scenarios for members to consider:

- 18 affordable units with no other contributions

- 12 affordable units with half contributions to the NHS and education.

A viability assessment was lodged.
