Long Sutton men’s 1sts handed out a 6-1 hiding to City of Peterborough 3rds in the East Men’s League Premier B. Sutton started brightly and it came as no surprise when they took the lead. It was also no shock that Danny Sisson scored it with one of his finest finishes of a excellent campaign, slotting perfectly into the corner.
Sutton’s second followed some lovely flowing hockey as Sisson poked home his 34th goal of the season.
Sutton continued to cause Peterborough problems and made it 3-0 with a lovely solo effort. Josh Fyson picked the ball up and drove into the D, avoiding all tackles before firing in an unstoppable reverse stick shot .
Sutton were rampant and another milestone was achieved when Nick Ellis scored his first of the season which means he has now scored in each of the last 22 seasons for the first team.
Another flowing move allowed Fred Whatling to fire in a cross which was turned in by a Peterborough defender to leave it 5-0 at the break.
Whatling added another in the second half before Peterborough scored a late consolation.
Long Sutton 2nds matched high-flying City of Peterborough 4ths early on before crashing to a 10-1 defeat in Division Three North West. Alex Canham scored with a deflected finish from a Ben Shore pass to put Sutton ahead but that was as good as it got.
Long Sutton Ladies 1sts went down 6-1 at Bedford 2nds, who a week earlier had secured promotion from East Women’s League North West Division Two. Fiona Gray scored for Sutton.
