Councillors have agreed to push ahead with increased traffic safety measures on a ‘dangerous’ stretch of road.

Long Sutton Parish Council has been in talks with Lincolnshire County Council’s Highways team regarding an access road adjacent to 38 and 42 London Road.

At the most recent meeting, chairman John Clarey spoke of several incidents where he had been dangerously overtaken on the road.

He said: “I am amazed there has not been more accidents there.”

Plans are in place to close the access road permanently.

  • A vote was held to appoint two new parish councillors.

Three prospective candidates attended the meeting and delivered short speeches.

Current councillors then voted in Clare Broughton and Graham Garrett.

  • Coun Jack Tyrrell, who represents the town on South Holland District Council, attended the meeting to say a new bench will be installed on Park Road.
