Guests ready for dinner at Quadring annual senior citizens party

More than 100 guests attended Quadring’s annual senior citizens’ party on Friday afternoon.

The annual event, which was first held in 1929, is open to all older residents of Quadring and used to held at Christmas time, but is now held in early Spring at the village hall.

However, in keeping with the party’s history, the 108 guests enjoyed a roast turkey dinner, which was generously provided by Tulipland Butchers of Donington.

Another tradition was the cutting of an iced cake by the most senior residents of the village, which this year were Sonia Pacey (94) and Bob Burr, who is 89.

The guests were entertained by singer Carolann, who performed songs from the ’60s and ’70s and had many people up on their feet and dancing!

The party is funded by a door-to-door collection in the village and also by a raffle -held during the Spring party for the first time - which this year had a magnificent 48 prizes, including £175 cash.
