Charity cyclists raise nearly £5,000

A team of energetic cyclists from the The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) raised almost £5,000 with a 109-mile ride across the Lincolnshire countryside.

The Tour de Trust cyclists set off at 8am from Market Rasen and dropped in at 12 of OSJCT's 15 county care homes - including those at Digby Court in Bourne and Southfield House in Spalding - before finishing the ride at Patchett Lodge in Holbeach early evening.

They raised £4777.90 for Dementia UK and the Trust, more than doubling their £2,800 target.

OSJCT provides high level care to those living with dementia. Chief executive officer Dan Hayes, who took part in the ride, said: "This event was a wonderful opportunity to fundraise for one of our partners, Dementia UK, who provide support to the Trust in helping to assist residents with dementia.

"Whether individuals were on a bike, in the support minibus, making the refreshments or cheering on from the roadside, it was a fun day, reminding us why we all do what we do every day. Thanks to everyone who made this occasion a great success.”
