John Clow of Crowland brought in this newspaper clipping about the floods of 1947.

He was four at the time and his family was living on a smallholding along the bank between Crowland and Market Deeping. He says: “I remember the water being from bank to bank and trickling over the road to where we lived. At one time they were holding 2ft of water back with earth-filled bags.”
