STEALING an Xbox game from Tesco in Bourne landed a man with an 18-month conditional discharge and orders for £100 court costs and £40 compensation to the supermarket.

Ben Noddings (31), of Back Lane, Ingoldsby, near Grantham, pleaded not guilty to the theft but was convicted after a trial at Spalding Magistrates’ Court.

He was sentenced at the court on Thursday.

Solicitor Stuart Wild, for Noddings, said he couldn’t mitigate in respect of the offence.

He said: “It was denied and it continues to be denied.”

Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said Noddings took the game but paid only for a magazine.
