Threw bottle at policeman

Have your say

A POLICE officer who asked a drunken man to move on was aware of something flying past him in the air when his back was turned and it turned out to be a glass bottle.

Marie Stace, prosecuting, said a passing driver confirmed it was Andrew Plant who threw the bottle.

Plant (39), of Frognall, Deeping St James, was conditionally discharged for a year by Spalding magistrates on Thursday when he pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Stamford on April 22.

He was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs.

Plant told magistrates he is seeking help for a drink problem and has been hit hard by deaths of a couple of people close to him.

He said: “I don’t remember the bottle incident but I appreciate it probably did happen.”
