A computer and laptop salesman from Spalding who carried out indecent assaults on girls aged under 16 has been jailed for five and a half years,
Geoffrey Ward (70), of Spring Gardens, Spalding, was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday for historic sex offences against five young girls between 1990 and 2006.
Ward, who ran the Mr Chips computer store in Victoria Street, Spalding, and was originally charged with six counts of indecent assault and one of
sexual touching, was also put on the sex offenders’ register for life.
Detective Constable Debra Charlesworth of Spalding CID said: “This was a protracted investigation, with the first victim coming forward in 2013.
“Ward’s inappropriate conduct evolved over a 16-year period and, during this time, he cultivated the friendship of his young female victims for his own advantage.
“I am pleased for those who came forward in that they can now take comfort and closure in the sentence passed on Ward in court on Friday.”
