A NEW alert system has been set up by police to keep residents up to date with crimes in their neighbourhood.

Alerts with officer concerns can be sent to residents by email, telephone or text, and incidents can also be reported directly to neighbourhood policing teams.

Insp Philip Baker said: “Knowledge is power and if there is the potential that criminals are operating in your area, we want to know as much as you do. We see this as very much a two-way communication tool that both the police and those we serve can benefit from.”

The service is free and can be joined by visiting or by calling the watchline administrator on 01522 558399.
