Detectives in Spalding have praised people for their help after a 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the theft of a caravan and pick-up.

A touring caravan was stolen from Fleet Hargate on Thursday, but a passer-by saw it later the same day being towed by a Nissan pick-up on the A17 near Heckington.

Police eventually forced the vehicles off the road and, with the help of a police dog, the driver was arrested and taken into custody at Grantham Police Station.

Detective Constable Steve Nesbit of Spalding CID said: “This was a classic example of the public helping the police by calling us with their concerns and suspicions and we are grateful.”
