Pensioner’s life of crime

A PENSIONER with a long history of offending walked out of Spalding’s branch of Halfords with a £13.99 bottle of diesel oil.

Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said Gerald Lenton was confronted and put the oil behind a display outside the shop. He told police there was a queue and he didn’t want to wait.

District Judge Richard Blake said: “I was two years old when he started his life of crime.”

Lenton (65), of Commons Road, Whittlesey, was fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge when he admitted theft.
