Operation Galileo charges reach 170, according to Lincolnshire Police

Lincolnshire Police has confirmed that 170 men have been arrested or reported for summons to court so far in connection with hare coursing activity across the county.

The latest figures for Operation Galileo, a clampdown on hare coursing in Lincolnshire, also showed that 83 other men have been dealt with in ways, including orders to leave the county and driving offences.

In addition, 19 vehicles were seized and two dogs taken away under the 2004 Hunting Act since the operation’s launch on September 1 last year.

Meanwhile, a horse-drawn cart was stolen from outside a building in Sutton St Edmun overnight between Friday and Saturday.

A Benington Beccaneer cart, midnight blue in colour and witha back step, was taken in the area of Broadgate Road, Sutton St Edmunds, between February 12 and 13.
