STAFF at a bingo club in Spalding have foiled an attemped burglary.
Unsuspecting bingo players were enjoying a game at the Regent Bingo Club on Westlode Street when two men forced their way into the building.
The men ran upstairs to the offices and were searching one of the rooms, according to website Bingosupermarket.com.
It claims assistant manager Marcus Druce followed them up the stairs and confronted them.
The police were then alerted by a 999 emergency call at about 8.30pm last Tuesday.
Officers detained one man but another was said to be “loose” in the building. He was found minutes later.
Police officers have confirmed one of the bingo staff was hit during the burglary, although they declined an ambulance.
Mr Druce has been praised for his quick actions by operations manager Dave Holt.
Mr Holt, speaking to Bingosupermarket.com, said: “Thankfully Marcus has sustained only minor injuries and the customers were busy playing bingo at the time.”
A 19-year-old man was arrested for burglary and assault following the incident, while a 20-year-old was also arrested for burglary.
Both men, from Spalding, have been bailed and are due to return to Spalding Police Station on January 14.
