Man (28) arrested after Bourne house fire

A 28-year-old man from Bourne has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a house fire in the town on New Year’s Day.

The man is being held in custody in connection with the blaze at a house in Abbey Road which broke out shortly after 3.30am yesterday.

A first-floor bedroom was badly damaged and the blaze also caused smoke damage to the top floor of the house.

Firemen from Spalding, Bourne, Market Deeping and Billingborough wearing breathing apparatus put out the blaze with a water hose reel.

The man in custody was taken to Peterborough City Hospital to be checked over before being held in custody.
