Drink-driver banned for 40 months: ‘I acted like a child’

Driving to town to buy cigarettes landed a man with a 40-month driving ban because it was his second excess alcohol offence within ten years.

Edvinas Laurikainen (40), of Park Road, Spalding, was also fined £370 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge when he pleaded guilty on Thursday to driving with 69 microgrammes of alcohol in breath, almost double the legal limit.

He told the court: “I feel sorry that it happened. I am a grown up but I acted as a child. It wasn’t a good decision.”

Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said police stopped his car at 11.38pm on Park Road because it was swerving.
