A 27-year-old man was given a day’s detention by magistrates after admitting to trying to steal meat from a shop in Spalding.

Dmitrijs Afanasjevs, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Skegness Magistrates Court on December 2 on a charge of attempting to steal meat from Iceland in Winfrey Avenue on December 1.

Afanasjevs also admitted to a further charge of using electricity dishonestly.

Meanwhile, police in Bourne are looking for thieves who targeted two gardens in the town. 
A one-metre high stone horse was been stolen from a garden in Drummond Road between 7.30pm on Monday December 1 and 1am the next morning.

An eye-witness saw two youths acting suspiciously in the area earlier on Monday at about 2.30pm.

A day later, garden ornaments were stolen from a garden in Manning Road happened between 8pm on Tuesday December 2 and 5am the next morning.
