A MAN found in a shallow ditch after crashing his car into a lamppost was banned from driving for three years by Spalding magistrates on Thursday.
It was Milan Ahmmed’s second drink drive offence within ten years.
Ahmmed (45), of Penric’s Way, Fleet Hargate, was also sentenced to a year-long community order and must pay £100 costs.
He changed his plea from not guilty to guilty at a previous hearing and his solicitor argued on Thursday he would have had 70 microgrammes of alcohol in breath at the time of the crash and not the 110mcgs revealed in the police breath test.
Rachel Stevens, mitigating, said Ahmmed drank vodka after the accident and had consumed three cans of beer before the crash.
Rebecca Ritson, prosecuting, said Ahmmed’s Audi was discovered by police after it hit the lamppost.
The vehicle was locked and secure and Ahmmed was found about a mile away in a shallow ditch with the car key in his pocket.
The incident happened in Fleet Road, Holbeach, on January 2.
