MAGISTRATES in Spalding have decided they do not have sufficient powers to deal with an alleged affray which happened in Long Sutton.

Lewis Downham (23), of Railway Lane, Sutton Bridge, and Shane Hurst (23), of Bridge Road, Sutton Bridge, were told on Thursday papers will be drawn up to send their case to crown court.

Both men denied the charge when they appeared at Spalding Magistrates’ Court and are now bailed to reappear on November 24.

Downham also faces a further charge of assault.

Magistrates also issued a warrant for a third man, Dwayne Mears (29), of Railway Lane, Sutton Bridge, after he failed to appear in court relating to the same incident.

A fourth man is due to appear in court at a later date.
