A JURY is continuing to hear evidence from the alleged victims of a Sutton Bridge man accused of abusing young children up to 36 years ago.

Gary Auker (51), who gave his address as Kent Close, is currently on trial at Norwich Crown Court accused of 16 offences of indecent assault, one of gross indecency and one of attempted rape between August 1975 and February 1990.

Auker denies the offences, which are alleged to have happened in the King’s Lynn area.

The trial, which began last Tuesday, heard how Auker had been arrested after his alleged victims contacted each other through Facebook.

On Monday, a woman gave evidence from behind a screen to protect her from being identified.

She has accused him of attempting to rape her when she was eight years old. However, she says the assaults started when she was four.

She told the court that she decided in August last year to report the matter to the police after another of the alleged victims contacted her and she discovered, to her horror, that she had not been the only victim to be abused by Auker.

On Wednesday, the jury was told by another alleged victim that Auker ran a disco at the North Lynn Community Centre at the time of the offences.

The woman told the court: “I was five or six and he used to do the music. I remember coming out of the toilets and Gary was standing there.

“He’d pick me up, put my legs around his waist and kiss me, putting his tongue in my mouth.

“He put his hand in the back of underwear, inside my underwear, making contact with my skin, touching me between my legs at the front. It seemed to last a long time.”

Another incident involving him, she said, occurred at his house about that time. He was then 27.

She said she had gone to “play some music with him” while visiting. His keyboard was moved so she could sit on the bed.

She said: “I played the keyboard and he was touching my thigh reaching as far as my underwear, touching the back of my leg for quite a while.”

She said that after she had moved to Essex, there had been another occasion when she had visited him and he had picked her up, tried to kiss her on the lips and tried to put his tongue in her mouth while rubbing himself on her legs.

Later, he asked on Facebook if she would be one of his “friends” but she said she had deleted him.

nThe trial continues.
