A POLICE operation investigating tractor thefts in Lincolnshire has led to five men being arrested.

The men were picked up as part of Operation Goldflake after searches were carried out in Doncaster, Wakefield, Hull and Chapel St Leonards.

The operation was set up by a team of Lincolnshire detectives in August 2010, led by Det Ch Insp Dave Wood and supported by police in West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Humberside.

Asso Jabar (30), of Agbrigg Road, Wakefield, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Friday accused of conspiring to steal tractors. The case was referred to Lincoln Crown Court and he was remanded in custody. His next hearing is due to take place tomorrow.

Terrence Frost (52), of Dunscroft, Doncaster, was charged with the same offence and was granted bail pending an appearance at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on June 20.

Two men, aged 26 and 27, from Doncaster, and a 33-year-old man from Hull have been released on bail until June 7 pending further enquiries.
