South Holland has won a share of a £16 million Government fund set up to fight fraud across the country.

A joint bid by South Holland, East Lindsey and Boston Borough Councils has secured almost £125,820 to be spent on projects aimed at clawing back some of the £2.1 billion lost to local government because of business and other types of fraud.

Coun Paul Przyszlak, deputy leader of South Holland District Council, said: “We are determined to tackle fraud of all types and aim to bring to book those who cheat the system and cheat honest hard-working people out of the money they pay in taxes.

“The extra funding will enable us to be even more diligent and effective.”
