A FIRM that employed a worker who fell to his death from Sutton Bridge Power Station has been fined £100,000.

Central (High Rise), based at Sneinton in Nottingham, was prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for the incident at Sutton Bridge and another at Nottingham Castle.

Mansfield man Brian Collins (52) fell about 111 feet from a platform at one of the chimneys at the power station on March 13 2008.

The firm pleaded guilty to two charges of failing to protect its employees at a hearing at Leicester Crown Court, but plans to contest some of the HSE findings.
