Rising passenger numbers have fuelled another record-breaking year for Lincolnshire County Council’s CallConnect bus service.

The rural bus service saw passenger figures rise to more than 322,000 in 2014, the biggest annual total since the service launched nearly 15 years ago.

It represents a five per cent growth in passenger numbers compared to 2013.

Coun Richard Davies, executive member for transport and highways, said: “This means we are continuing to reach out to more people in rural and isolated areas. CallConnect is a much valued service which is making a difference to more people’s lives.”

As the service moves into 2015, plans for developments and improvements include:

nA new integrated online booking system enabling customers to check service availability and to book and manage their journeys online.

nA new real-time vehicle tracking facility so that customers can track their bus up to one hour before departure.

nContinued refresh of vehicles to improve the CallConnect fleet.

The demand-responsive CallConnect bus service helps people of all ages to travel from around the county.

The service operates 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 8am-6pm on Saturdays.
