South Holland council leader calls for NHS to communicate plans on

A council leader is calling for the NHS to share more information about the COVID vaccination programme in South Holland to ease people's concerns.

South Holland District Council leader Gary Porter is growing frustrated at the lack of communication about plans to give local people the vaccination.

Earlier today Littlebury Medical Centre posted on social media that its phone lines are being blocked due to patients hoping to book their COVID jab.

Coun Porter said: "It is no wonder with the lack of information that the public are getting concerned and making their own inquiries.

"What we need is reliable information that is communicated to the Local Outbreak Boards so that our communications teams can use local media to make sure that people are fully informed of the process, time scales and the rest of it.

"We need to get that information to where it is needed - the public. We have taken away people's liberties away from them. The least we can give them is information to give them some hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel."
