Help South Lincolnshire Jerry Green Dog rescue find a home for Tammy who has been in kennels for two years
Please help us to get 2020 off to a good start for a dog who has spent nearly two years in kennels.
Tammy the lurcher has been with Jerry Green Dog Sanctuary since August 2018 and has so far been unlucky in finding a home.
She is the South Lincolnshire site's longest staying resident along with Buddy the Greyhound, who has been with the team since February 2019.
Now staff are hoping to find the perfect home for Tammy (4), who did not have the best start in life as she was found as a stray but has had a litter before her arrival.
The centre's Katrina Hyde said: "It would be the best start to the year if we could find homes for Tammy and Buddy.
"It would be really nice if we could find somewhere for Tammy before Valentine's Day as she has so much love to give."
During her time in kennels, Tammy has proved to be a very bright during training and knows all the basic commands.
Staff say the ideal home would be with someone who is around and is good with older children.
Katrina said: "It is so hard as we know what a lovely girl she is and it just needs the right person to look at her."
Buddy is a former racing greyhound who appears to have spent most of his life in kennels.
He was close to being rehomed but unfortunately it did not work out as Buddy as he does take a while to adjust so would need an understanding home.
Buddy has been working with staff on his training and also has the basic commands down.
Katrina said: "Once you make a friendship with Buddy, you have a friend for life."
A misconception of sight hounds could be one of the reasons why Tammy and Buddy have not been adopted.
Katrina said: "Sight hounds are really misunderstood dogs. They love an initial run but after that they just want a sofa to curl up on."
The team is also hoping to find a home for Scooby, a German Shepherd Ridgeback cross, who was given up in July last year because of his owner's ill health.
He has become very stressed in kennels and needs a new home soon.
If you could offer any of these wonderful dogs a home please contact Jerry Green on 01205 260546 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
