Crowland team is looking for its next football star
A Crowland junior football team is on the search for budding Beckhams and potential Pogbas to join in the beautiful game.
The Crowland Juniors Football Club is looking to recruit new players to add to its Under 12s team, to join 12 other players with a view to the future.
Coach Andy Priestley says that the team, which practices at Snowden Playing Field, is looking for two more squad members.
He said: “We are doing really well at the moment and want to add a couple more as we move towards next season where we will be playing 11-a-side.
“We are a really friendly club and we all get on really well – it’s about the kids enjoying it and keeping active.
“We aren’t shouty or pushy coaches and there’s no pressure from us either – we just want everyone to enjoy it.”
Along with supportive coaches, the team is also managed by Kelly Lang and all managers and coaches are DBS checked and are able to give first aid and safeguarding training.
While the club focuses on enjoying football and helping players to realise their potential, youngsters are also able to learn more about social interaction.
Andy said: “All of the boys are enthusiastic and there’s also a really good social side too.
“A lot of the boys are at school in Spalding, Holbeach and Market Deeping so when we meet up for training it’s like a big social.
“We had a few people leave last year and they’ve gone off to play with other teams so there’s plenty of interest.”
The team meets for training every Thursday evening, from 6:30pm to 8pm, at Snowden Playing Field on Thorney Road.
