Coronavirus: Free parking at Boston's Pilgrim for restricted visiting

There will be free parking from tomorrow at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital for the few remaining visitors.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has put a stop on all visiting to its hospitals, including Grantham and Lincoln, due to the coronavirus outbreak apart from:

* The maternity department will allow one birthing partner to attend

* Parents who do not show the symptoms of infection can visit their children

Any other visits are by exception only and typically will be granted on compassionate grounds agreed in advance with the nurse in charge of the ward.

If granted, the majority of these visits will take place between 6pm and 7pm. No visitors under 16 will be allowed.

The trust says staff car parking will be free from Wednesday, April 1 until at least Friday, July 31.

A trust spokesperson said: "Until further notice, anyone visiting Lincoln, Boston or Grantham hospitals will be able to park in any of the car parks free of charge.

"This means that both visitors and staff can use any designated parking space on the sites.

"Disabled parking bays will still be reserved for blue badge holders who should display their permit as usual.

"All other spaces will be free for everyone to use, but the trust asks that motorists continue to park considerately and within designated parking bays.

"All of the payment machines will be covered over from tomorrow morning."
