Level crossing fault at Hawthorn Bank causes delays for more than two hours
Road and rail commuters in Spalding were delayed after a level crossing fault this morning.
Network Rail engineers were called to Hawthorn Bank were the fault was reported just before 5.20am.
Services were back to normal shortly after 8am as engineers repaired the fault.
A Network Rail spokesman said: "A signaller reported a fault with the Hawthorn Bank level crossing this morning.
"To protect the safety of those travelling on trains, as well as motorists and pedestrians, the barriers were kept in the 'down' position.
"This was to allow Network Rail engineers to visit the site and carry out work to resolve the issue.
"We would like to apologise for any disruption caused and thank all those affected for their patience."
