A regular column from South Holland Centre in Spalding.
There’s always a comedy gig or two coming up at South Holland Centre but this Easter we’ve got something new lined up – Comedy Club for Kids!
The whole family can sit around tables in the centre’s top floor Function Hall and enjoy a raft of good clean jokes from three professional comedians.
The line-up includes: Australian Bec Hill who has talent for incorporating arts and crafts into her stand-up routines; the sharp and crafty Ben Van Der Velde who thinks he’s got the most infectious laugh of any human, rat or monkey; and MC Tiernan Douieb, who claims his comedy is mostly about bogies and superheroes.
This family friendly event, where you can order a jug of squash from the bar and enjoy side-splitting jokes without the rude bits, takes place on Saturday, April 2 at 2pm. Tickets are £7 or £25 for a family ticket.
Of course, all top comedians started somewhere, so if your little one wants to nurture their comic side, book them onto our Comedy Club for Kids Workshop on Saturday, April 2 at 11am. Led by comedy stage professionals, this session shows those aged seven to 18 how to write and perform comedy, find the funny in their own experiences and turn it into stand-up and sketches. Prices are £10 per child and £8 for additional siblings.
Before that, on Friday, April 1, there’s a chance for under sevens and their adults to slip on their dancing shoes for an afternoon of great music and dancing games at our Easter Top Of The Poppets family disco (1.30pm). Entry is £3 and free to accompanying adults and babes in arms.
Anyone looking for a family film over the Easter holidays can choose from the fourth instalment in the Alvin and The Chipmunks series, The Road Chip; Goosebumps starring Jack Black; and Kung Fu Panda 3. All screening dates and times are listed in our film guide and on our website.
