Cowbit Social Committee are hosting their Fun on the Field 2021 event this weekend
Residents are gearing up for the return of a popular festival this weekend.
The Cowbit Social Committee is hosting the first Fun on the Field event since 2019 this Saturday (August 21), with last year’s event being cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
There will be a wide variety of activities on offer at Cowbit Playing Field from 3pm onwards, with a little something for people of all ages.
A classic vintage car show will be among the highlights. The show made its debut in 2019, and organiser James Wilson-White is looking forward to getting it back up and running.
“This is the second car show we’ve ran for the village,” he said.
“We ran our fist one two years ago pre-Covid, so it’ll be good to have it back again.
“It’s good for the village and community, and it gets a lot of people from outside the village coming in as well.
“A lot of other shows have been cancelled this year, so we’ve carried on with ours and it seems to have a lot of interest.
“Cars will be coming from different areas, including from different car clubs in Wisbech, King’s Lynn, Peterborough, Stamford and Spalding.
“There will be quite a good variety. There certainly was last time. We’ve had Mustangs, Porsches, even Lamborghinis before.
“We haven’t done bookings this year. Basically, anyone who wants to come along can as long as they’re on the field before 3pm.
“We’re just trying to get a bit of interest in it this year.”
The Fun on the Field event will also feature the likes of a dog show, a natural dog treats stall and Rock School Bus.
Children can be entertained by a bouncy castle, face painting or bungees and trampolines at the field.
A tractor show will also garner interest, with a strawberry stand stall offering delicious treats.
There will also be a beer tent (which takes cash only), with three bands playing some live music from 6.30pm onwards.
