Clinical research is taking centre stage with the opening of a new research facility at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital.
The new Lincolnshire Clinical Research Facility is being officially opened at a ceremony on Monday, August 8.
Clinical research in Lincolnshire’s hospitals has gone from strength to strength in recent years, with the number of clinical trials and studies carried out in United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust Hospitals rising from about 10 to almost 200.
At Pilgrim, the research team are working on a number of trials including oncology, haematology, stroke, cardiology, paediatric, dermatology, diabetes, midwifery, ophthalmology, respiratory, anaesthesia, gastroenterology, renal and orthopaedics.
Director of the Lincolnshire Clinical Research Facility Dr Tanweer Ahmed described the facility as ‘excellent for our staff and particularly for our patients’.
