CHRISTMAS FOODBANK APPEAL 2018: Spalding Travel opens its doors to donations of food, toiletries and toys for festive hampers to go to the needy

Staff at a Spalding travel agency are thinking of more than one type of package deal this Christmas.

As well as taking bookings for winter getaways next year, the team at Spalding Travel are also providing Christmas hampers full of festive treats for struggling individuals and families so they can have a holiday of a lifetime as well on December 25.

Spalding Travel, part of the Holiday With Us group, is accepting donations of food, toys and toiletries, as well as festive treats like Christmas cakes and puddings, mince pies, chocolates and fruit juice, at its office in Market Place.

Office manager Lisa Shepherd said: "For the last few years the Holiday With Us Group has provided Christmas hampers to those we support throughout the year in the local community.

"We will be providing Christmas Hampers again this year, working with Agapecare Foodbank Spalding which many in our community relies on for essential food items on a weekly basis.

"In order to provide additional support, we supply Christmas hampers to charities helping those in the community who are in desperate need at Christmas.

"The hampers will be packed with items a family needs for Christmas, including food and toiletries.

"But we also include treats, such as Christmas pudding and cake, mince pies, chocolates, fruit juice, toys and much more.

"These collection points are located within the Spalding Travel branch, as well as Holiday With Us offices in March and Wisbech."

Food items should be in date and either packed, dried, jarred or tinned, but not fresh foods, while toiletries and toys should be new, unused and unopened.
