‘More than 20 children were treated to a banquet to celebrate the Chinese New Year’
More than 20 children aged from four to six in Reception and Year 1 were treated to a banquet by the Crystal Inn in Spalding to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Class teacher Anett Baxter said the celebration fitted in with this term’s class topic of fabulous food.
To the sound of Chinese music, the pupils tucked into a banquet of noodles, rice, chicken in batter, spring rolls and prawn crackers – and loved it.
Anett said: “They really enjoyed trying out new flavours and different textures and colours on the plate.
“They all tried all the different food and they were given a set of chop sticks to take home.”
The Crystal Inn also provided a decorative dragon, and the youngsters learned about the importance of that creature in Chinese culture.
Anett said: “It was a very good experience for the children. They loved it.”
