POLICE believe young children may be responsible for smashing two windows at Crowland Abbey.

The damage was reported to police around midday on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said inquiries are focusing on a couple of children under the age of criminal responsibility – ten years – and officers are looking at options including ‘restorative justice’.

A similar incident at Boston Stump led to youngsters learning about the historical importance of the building to prevent further incidents.
