Checks on school meals providers

All school meals providers in South Holland and Lincolnshire are being checked in the wake of the horse meat in beef scandal.

So far tests have revealed none of the providers is selling contaminated meat.

Keith Batty, assistant director of Lincolnshire education trust CfBT, said: “Schools have their own contracts with local providers using food sourced locally. All school meal providers are being checked for any contamination.

“At present, investigations have revealed no provider to have contaminated meat, including the main provider of school meals in Lincolnshire.”

He said all schools are advised to check their own food providers.
