THE nation is being asked to volunteer their professional skills to boost charities, community groups and clubs and help them survive the recession, as part of Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 27.
Organisations such as playgroups needing advice on how to recruit volunteers safely, local clubs wanting advice on refurbishing their buildings, and hospices looking for help with their ICT and websites are only some of the beneficiaries of CSV Make a Difference Day.
Is Szoneberg, head of volunteering, said: ‘CSV Make a Difference Day is the chance for people to try out volunteering for the first time. We believe that everyone can make a difference – from people knitting toys for sick children in hospital to a group of local people getting together to clear up waste ground. With local groups and charities struggling through the recession this year we’re particularly looking for people with professionals skills to help out.”
