South Holland Centre bosses are keen to set up a panel of young people who can set their own agenda after a free ticket scheme came to an end.

The Spalding venue benefited from an Arts Council-funded project to hand out free tickets for selected events for under-26s, with almost 1,500 people signing up to the scheme and about 450 people taking up the chance to bag free tickets.

The centre now wants to put together a forum to look at ways to target discount offers to the under-26s and get them involved in what the venue offers.

Andrea King, of the South Holland Centre, said: “Unfortunately that ticket scheme is stopping and we can’t offer free tickets but we are definitely going to be launching our own scheme for under 26s.

“We want to get a group together and we want it to have legs and help us shape what we offer for young people.

“We are trying to develop something accessible and enjoyable for young people but we want them to get involved with what that should be.”

In the long term the centre may even be able to hand over a budget to the forum to market and promote a show of its choice.

The next youth forum meeting will be at the South Holland Centre on July 18 at 4.30pm and anyone interested can go along or email aking@sholland.gov.uk
