Gosberton Academy's Christmas Fair hosts royal cake maker

Gosberton Academy hosted a cake-maker to the royals at its Christmas fair.

Dave Avery MBE, who made the wedding cake for Charles and Diana, the Prince and Princess of Wales, was a guest at the fair and judged the baking competition.

There was a host of stalls - 20 under the wing of the Parent Teacher and Friends' Association (PTFA) and, for the first time, a further 13 run by visitors.

Sarah Palmer, who chairs the PTFA, said the event raised £840 and the money will be used to benefit pupils at the school.

One big treat from the PTFA's past funding will see 125 pupils enjoy a free trip to the panto at Blackfriars Theatre in Boston.

The star of the day for the youngsters was Santa Claus.

"They loved him," said Sarah. "They always do."
