LINFORDS in Market Deeping scooped the title of the region’s best chip shop for the fifth time in nine years – beating its village rivals to the top spot.
Linfords and near neighbour The Boundary both made the Eastern England top three for the 2012 National Fish and Chip Awards competition, but it is Linfords that took the crown and goes on to compete for the title of the nation’s best in January.
Co-owner Paul Linford said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed with joy to have claimed back the regional title for a fifth time, after missing out last year.
“The team have worked so hard and I’m very grateful for their dedication. We’ve been particularly focused on attention to detail for this year’s competition – making sure everything is perfect because the smallest detail can make you win or lose.”
Linfords was previously crowned Eastern England’s best in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2009/10.
Between now and the grand final, in London on January 17, all ten regional winners will visit Norway to learn about sustainable fish supplies.
