A £1.1 million project to make South Holland District Council run more smoothly and cost-effectively has been unveiled.

Better online services, new ways of using South Holland Centre, Ayscoughfee Hall and Museum and Castle Sports Complex, progress with a new housing company and a new council website are all part of a Transformation Programme discussed a meeting on Wednesday.

It’s something we just have to do in the second decade of the 21st century

Over the next four years, council members and staff will work together to make it more responsive to people’s needs.

Deputy council leader Malcolm Chandler said: “The Transformation Programme includes an effort to make our digital services so good that people will choose to use them.

“It’s not going to be a universal answer become some people will still need to have access to human beings, but it’s something we just have to do in the second decade of the 21st century.”

Chief executive Anna Graves added: “There is massive enthusiasm among the staffing team to look at ways of working differently.”
