THE new chairman of Lincolnshire County Council has pledged to champion county farming.
On Friday, Coun Robert Palmer (pictured) became the 27th chairman of the county council.
Coun Palmer said: “I am very proud to have been elected as chairman and look forward to serving as an ambassador for Lincolnshire.
“My aim this year is to promote farming and the excellent food we all know and love.
“During my tour of duty, I would like to raise the profile of Lincolnshire and its agricultural background and let everyone know why we were voted Britain’s favourite food spot.”
During the year Coun Palmer will also be raising money for the endoscopy and urology unit at Louth Hospital, Lincolnshire Rural Support Network and a memorial for the fallen of The 10th Regiment of Foot.
Coun Charlotte Farquharson was elected as vice-chairman.
