The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in South Holland has fallen by 58 per cent in the last six years, according to the latest statistics.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics showed that 610 people were registered unemployed and claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in September, down five per cent from August.
Across the whole of South Holland and the Deepings, the number of Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants in August was 685, down by 50 on the same month in 2015 and 270 compared to August 2010.
Employment Minister Damian Hinds said: “There is great news in the East Midlands where there are a record number of people in work at 2.3 million.
“But there is more to do and to build a solid base for the future, we are rolling out our Jobcentre Plus Support for Schools scheme to give tens of thousands of young people help in taking their first steps into work.”
