WINGLAND farmers Julian and Stafford Proctor have won a national award.
As tenants of The Crown Estate’s Wingland Estate, they collected the 2011 rural business award from The Crown Estate’s chairman, Sir Stuart Hampson, at a reception at Lancaster House.
The Crown Estate praised the family for taking “a sustainable approach to farming, caring for the environment and providing habitat for wildlife”.
The farm team work with the local community and are involved in Open Farm Sunday and school visits.
Judges said it was their environmental stewardship, innovative approach and can-do attitude which won them award.
As well as recognition, the prize includes £5,000 towards an overseas study tour to see innovative farming methods and businesses.
