37 staff go as Bourne building firm folds

ADMINISTRATORS have been called in at a Bourne-based building firm, leaving 37 of its staff without jobs.

Directors at FE Peacock Construction, part of the Larkfleet Group, have described it as a “very sad day” for the business and blamed Government cutbacks in social housing and the recession.

Just two employees now remain at the firm on Southfields Business Park.

Company director Paul Adams said: “We have been working hard over the last year to fulfil existing contracts, but we have found it increasingly difficult to make ends meet due to the lack of future work.

“There are an awful lot of businesses in the construction industry that have had to call in the administrators. It is a very sad day for the business.”

Adrian Allen, partner at Baker Tilly Restructuring and Recovery, was appointed as administrator to the building firm, which was established in 1991, last Tuesday. The majority of FE Peacock’s work was for registered social landlords such as housing associations and councils.
