More than a thousands parents and students and more than 60 employers and universities attended Bourne Grammar School’s careers fair this month.

According to a school spokesman, it was the “grandest and most ambitious” fair organised so far by manager of UCAS and Careers Penny Hawkins.

The event was open to students in Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 and their parents and was spread over four main venues within the school site.

Representatives from universities and businesses provided information and advice on a vast range of career, work experience and high education opportunities.

The spokesman said: “A particularly popular area was the Alumni Roadshow where former Bourne Grammar students spoke knowledgeably and enthusiastically about settling into their careers and current work.”

Headteacher Jonathan Maddox paid tribute to the organisers of the event. He said: “Mrs Hawkins has clearly put on offer an event that met students’ and parents’ needs because they came in numbers that for an absolutely electric atmosphere.

“Speaking to very many around the stalls and as they left, it was good to hear how helpful and informative they had found the evening.”
