Bourne Abbey Primary School has grand plans for its annual Year 6 school leavers’ production, which this year is the popular musical, ‘We Will Rock You’, based on songs by rock band, Queen.
Over 70 Year 6 children are involved in all aspects of the grand-scale production from marketing, costume design, set design and construction and of course acting and singing roles.
The school has formed a Year 5 Production Choir who act as the chorus for the show to support the soloists and add an extra dimension to the performance.
Also for the first time the show is being staged in the main hall of Bourne Grammar School, with two performances taking place on Saturday. The cast and crew will be putting Bourne Grammar’s state-of-the-art sound and lighting system to good use when they perform over 20 songs made famous by Queen.
Director of Music at Bourne Abbey, Andrew Clingo told us: “The “transfer” to Bourne Grammar School will provide an amazing experience for the children - many of whom have never performed on a full stage before. The facilities at Bourne Abbey are perfectly adequate for the production but we are unable to achieve a full blackout and have only a small raised stage. The full raised stage at Bourne Grammar School offers a proper theatrical experience to our students and will let our stars be shown in their best light.”
Tickets cost £5 (Adult) or £2 (Under 16) and tickets can be purchased via the Bourne Grammar School website http://www.bourne-grammar.lincs.sch.uk/tickets
