This year is one of big celebrations for the Deepings Methodist Church.
The stylish, modern building, situated in Church Street, Deeping St James, will be 25 years old this spring, and there has been a Methodist church on the site for 135 years.
All kinds of different events have been planned to mark this special occasion. A pantomime has already taken place in January, to packedhouses, and special preachers have been invited to take the morning service on the first Sunday of every month.
The high point of the year will occur during the first weekend in May. On Saturday, May 2 there will be a concert given at the church by singer/songwriter Paul Field, who has had songs recorded by stars such as Elkie Brooks, Katie Meluah and Cliff Richard.
Paul will also be taking part in the service on Sunday, May 3, where the preacher will be Gill Dascombe. She is the vice-president of the Methodist Conference of Great Britain, and has won awards for her preaching.
During this weekend there will be an exhibition of memorabilia. “If anyone has any items or cuttings, we would love to borrow them,” said Rev Ann Bossingham.
Ann can be contacted by email on Ann@Bossingham.com or by phone on 01778 380566.
