SUTTON Bridge council tax payers face bigger bills from April with the parish precept shooting up from £52,000 to £77,000 – a rise of 48 per cent.
The parish precept forms just one part of the bill with additional sums going to South Holland Disrtict Council, Lincolnshire County Council and Lincolnshire Police Authority.
Coun David Dewsberry, who proposed the new charge, told the parish council meeting: “I know it’s a big increase but we have got so many things in hand that have got to be paid for.”
And Coun Chris Brewis said the council had to make sure it was in a position to move forward with all of its projects.
He said: “In the circumstances, with the expenses we have got coming forward – major ones – I will second that.”
The precept for 2012/13 was agreed by nine votes with none against.
